My Doctor is wonderful. I was in such pain and really a bitch on the phone today, but he scheduled me in any way. What a saint. Why did he become a doctor? What if he became a plumber instead? What if he became an athlete?
Would the pain pills he gave me been dispensed by someone else? Maybe not!
We all toil and work and slave at our chosen career, or the career chosen for us by our loving parents. For most of us, thankfully, these careers have turned out to be post-modern bliss in a cube, a desk, a cockpit, or for Mr. Federer-behind the service line.
Obviously I am a writer. But sometimes I nearly soil my undies thinking about what life would be like if I weren’t so accomplished at what I’ve chosen to do (although…my earliest memory of writing was Beulah’s admonition that I, “write down my 'DO ALL’S'”).
Think for just a few moments about how lucky you are to be… WHAT YOU ARE!!
Just a missed communication here, and bad grade in a core class there…and you might be telling jokes on a stage in Bend, OR for next to nothing tonight instead of living the life of luxury you do lead. Keep on doing what it is you do…because you must be good at it.
You can afford an internet connection, right? I thought so.
Shall we, in attempt to better appreciate our careers, take a walk down the hallway that was missed? Stroll in the foyer that was never ever occupied? Graze in the field that held no calling for some others? Let’s take a look at what might have been…if some folks didn’t choose the career they did choose. And kick ass at it.
Can you imagine...?
The Pottery of Robert Frost - A life’s work making mediocre ashtrays and funky ass honeypots. What a waste. Thankfully, he listened to someone smart - maybe his high school art teacher…who steered him AWAY from the pottery wheel. As he traveled down the road less traveled…did he ever wistfully swoon for the smell of the kiln? It’s odor lovely, dark and deep? No! He had poems to write you silly creep. Poems to write you silly creep.
Michael Vick, Veterinary Psychiatrist - To get the core reasons why some house pets are deeply troubled takes great patience, compassion, and an animal affinity that may be a trait which someone is born with. Michael Vick has shown that his greatest talent is in that of deception and running away. These talents have made him a fantastically difficult quarterback to tackle. I’m sure he hopes they will also allow him to be nearly un-touchable in the new kennel he will be residing. But, keep him away from fluffy. And Fido. And my Koi pool.
I took both the pills the Doctor gave me. I feel a little swirly. I wonder if the pain will stop soon?
Watson and Crick - Opera Writers/ Rappers(West Coast)- Aria’s written only for the sake of possible glory attained for beating the pants off of Gilbert and Sullivan at their own game? Rhymes busted fa wut? D to the NA baby…s’what I’m talkin bout Holmes. Shit muthafukker shit. Y’all best be showin yer grill, fer these molly kule twins…they done found da heliks…bof of um. Adanine, you get mine. Cytosine goes sight un-seen, Thymine, it’s all I mean. Guanine heh heh Guanine heh heh YO Represent!

He ha nice loins for an oldermman. Hey Ted …I’llllbbbbbbbeee qeen of the forest, lol. Y dot'n you call anymore. I singed uor the book ou tbot . cuz you’re a pussy! Tha wy.
